In a surprise assembly, Mt. Tabor Middle School teacher Matthew Bacon-Brenes was named Oregon’s 2018 Teacher of the Year. 

We asked his former students to write notes about him that shared what they loved about their teacher, what made him unique and how he challenged them. During the interview, we revealed these notes to the teacher to get a truly candid reaction.
